The data are single-orbit McIDAS areas. (Click here for a format description.) The file names have the format

starttime_endtime_NOAAnn_AMSUi.ext

where starttime and endtime have the format YYDDDHHMMSS:

HHhour (UTC)
MMminute
SSsecond

nn is the number of the satellite (15-17)

i is the instrument (A for AMSU-A; B for AMSU-B)

The file extension (ext) specifies the information in the file:
